Mount Afechtal is part of the Rif Mountain range and rises to an altitude of 1,884 meters above sea levelIt is characterized by a diverse vegetation cover, including cedar trees and cork oak, and offers an easy to moderate trail that allows visitors to discover the mountain world and enjoy long-distance hiking in nature

Detailed Program for the Mount Afchtal Hiking Trip

06:00: Departure from Tangier, in front of the Syrians Mosque

07:00: Departure from Tetouan, in front of Hotel Paloma at the entrance to Chefchaouen

08:30: Departure from Chefchaouen – Dardara roundabout

Start of the hike

Breakfast

Begin the ascent towards the summit

Rest breaks along the trail

Reach the summit of Mount Afchtal via trails covered with fallen leaves in an autumn atmosphere

Lunch

Take souvenir photos next to the sign marking the mountain's elevation

Enjoy the panoramic view from the summit over the Ghomara tribes and surrounding areas

Descend the mountain and head back to the bus

Return to the departure cities

  • Important Notes:
  • 1. We provide a rental service for certain equipment or can guide you to the nearest shop specializing in mountain sports gear2. Backpack weight should not exceed 3 kg—the lighter it is, the more enjoyable and easier the hike
